I had to postpone it the last couple of months, mostly because I could not find the focus to do it. But now is the best time to continue and finish it. After all, as Malcom Lu (brilliant 2D artist) said to me, Voyager is the star of the show, it should be done first. He certainly has a point.
I will consider this day 1 of the project.
I created a light rig and some decent render settings for my work in progress shots.
Because Voyager will need all of my attention to get it right, I will put my other projects on hold.

Because it's my summer break!
A freshly rendered alternative angle that I left out for ST-MAG:

Merian Poll
Poll closed, thank you for voting!
The Merian variant (U.S.S. Hawking) will contain:
The "dual wing" layout. (55%)
Different sensors pods (44%)
A more uniform color scheme (19%)
I decided to skip the vertical nacelle idea for now. Perhaps a different class sometime.
Totally unrelated: You can hang out at the messhall from the U.S.S. Batavia again. (Fixed the link)

Think! Before you post!
In the Merian Poll please ignore Horizontal Nacelles.... I should have typed Vertical Nacelles.... (1 on top 1 below...)
In my enthousiam I typed what I thought, then was called away and never noticed my error. :) Sorry!

Voyager research.... :)
I had to make a picture of myself for Dougs blog, but I always end up looking different or too serious. So this time I kept my curvy arch enemy (for the next couple of months at least...) in my hands, much better results! :)
