Enterprise F, a first idea.

Because of the STO contest, I kept doodling Enterprises everywhere. :)

Just wanted to share my more serious (but incomplete) doodle:
The pylon and nacelle area still need a lot of thought. The rest I was pretty happy with. I do expect to 3D something along these lines one day. (Galaxy II class probably)

*p.s. In length I believe 850 meters would be the max.

    Hmm, I like the sleekness mixed with organic characteristics of it, definitely, ubt something about the secondary hull/engineering hull seems a bit off... it's kind of on the overly large side? Less balanced with the saucer? I do like the lines quite a bit and this is just a thought and I know this is a sketch, but just thought I'd throw my two cents in!

    Have you been playing Mass Effect?
    Utopia Planetia seems to have hired some Geth shipwrights lol ;P
    I recall you saying you were over the old look for starships, and I applaud your choice to try different ideas. A promising start.

    Thanks! Everybody asks me that! I never played Mass Effect, perhaps I should. (I will create a post of that sometime!) Oh yeah the class name is ofcourse temp, and will change another 12 times before I finally have a good one. :)

    I look forward to what you come up with, it's hard to tell from this perspective only but the back of the neck looks like it could be an interesting concept.

    I liked the Aventine's central ridge and clean lines over the Sovereign's wedding cake saucer and all the insets on the lower saucer... but you don't need someone telling you how to do you job :p

    It's beautiful!! It's more of a natural looking successors to the Enterprise-D. Wish this was something that was going to be used in a new TV series, would be prefect!

Many months have passed since I last posted an update. While my intention was to share anything the project I was working on was too important/too demanding to write an article during the "construction". The IXS Enterprise, a very early concept of the first real warpship. When I got invited by Dr. Harold "Sonny" White and Mike Okuda, I was absolutely stunned. Did that just really happen? A person from NASA contacted me to do artwork for them? Yes it did! After seeing my rendition of Matt Jefferies "Ring Ship", Dr. White thought that this would be a good starting point for a near future "Ring Ship". At least from a STEM perspective. Have a nice new year everyone! I'm currently working on a new project, it's movie related but not Star Trek or Star Wars. I'm afraid that's all I can say, it also means that there will be very little to show up to April because of the NDA. Meanwhile Thinkgeek.com is considering the idea of IXS Enterprise posters, a fun idea if you ask me. But: nothing is certain yet. :) In other news, I'm in the process of converting the Vesta class to mesh, improving some tiny design glitches at the same time. Mesh conversion is tricky, with different output in viewport and renderer... Also I have to redo the textures, this is basically a good thing as the current version relies too much on ancient procedural shaders, they need to go. Still once converted to mesh, the usability is going to be so much better.
