  2. Very interesting. I think I like the hexagonal design. To be honest, I'm amazed you put this much work and thought into the detail for the ship. (No, seriously. It's just an escape pod.) I'm definitely impressed!

Any chance we might be able to see some sketches for the refit design?

  3. I like the design and sort of like the idea of a phaser for debris, however it might make hostile ships target the lifeboats when they otherwise may be left unharmed.

  4. Thanks guys, the original version of the Escape Pod is very similar, it was designed by Rick Sternbach. Mine is a tweaked version of it.

Aqua: the phasers are on the original version also. It's up to the people inside to use it or not. (Personally I would just try to get away in the chaos.) But when flying into a debris field, it might be handy to clear a path etc.

  5. I've reviewed Sternbach's TNG escape pod design and see what you're talking about + gained new appreciation for your more compact design, apparently I've always overlooked that detail before.

I maintain my objection to the phaser being there, but that's a minor nitpick on a good design - which I definitely prefer over the Ent-E.
