Vesta class, STO and some Demeter news.
I noticed that there is some "discussion" going on about the Vesta class and Star Trek Online.
4 or 5 months ago I had brief contact with Cryptic about getting this class in Star Trek Online. They had to check with CBS. That is also the last update I got. Just to be clear on that: If they would contact me, I'm willing to help out.
In other news:
Working on Demeter. The ship is taking an entirely new route and will probably be the cleanest/less greebled ship of the fleet. This in contrast to the very heavy looking Merians.
Hope to post first work in progress pics in a couple of days.

Looking good, Mark! Liking the side profile so far :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm frequently on the STO forums, the reason given for not having the ship is that you haven't yet given them permission. I'll try and bring you to their attention.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I hope Cryptic hooks up with you soon! They've been pretty busy getting out a new season.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan of the Vesta!
I do really like this new concept, though i´m eager to see more pics !!! lol.
ReplyDeleteAbout st on-line, i don´t play it, but i´ll be delighted to watch some images from vesta in game posted. I think it would be a nice tribute, to the hard work and a fine job made, and a good guideance for future modellers about quantum sliptreams technology.
Keep rocking !!!!
As for STO: I play the game, ALOT, and I'm telling you this as a representative of the community, every single one of us would have a nerd-gasm if you got the Vesta into STO. We would be in your debt, yadda yadda yadda. Point being, it'd work out amazingly :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the Demeter: The way I envisioned the Demeter, after recently reading CotS, was a sort of capsized sailboat concept. Along the sides of this main hull, there'd be huge multiple-decks-tall viewports to let sunlight in from nearby stars. There'd be tiers of plants and whatnot. Sticking to conventional design, the nacelles might come out similar to the Spirit you designed. Then there'd be a mast sticking downwards, with multiple levels encased in transparent aluminum, covered in grenery.
Now obviously, this isn't how you envisioned your Demeter, but I thought you might wish to hear a concept.
The Vesta has a very big following in STO and t would be amazing to see it fly in that game and go where no one has gone before ^^...
ReplyDeleteHope Cryptic, yourself and CBS can work something out. It's an amazing piece of art.

ReplyDeleteFolks, everyone involved is interested in the ship. This really boils down to contracts and rights and outside the scope of anyone "not wanting" it in the game or not.
Once we have time to work through legal issues then we can consider the ship. Neither us nor CBS has had time to investigate it fully. We've simply made it known that we want to put the ship in game and we're going from there.
Thanks for the update Aqua! :) Hopefully this will keep my mailbox a little bit STO/Vesta free :P (The main reason why I put it on my blog.)
