Blog reconstruction finished.

Blog changes done for now. I decided to not use Dynamic views yet, as it still is rather uneditable thru the blogger menu. (I'm a 100% dummy in html/css template editing.)

Anyways lets take a look at Demeter's first full view concept:

Vulcan meets Andor.

    Hi PV!

Knifelike, but a bit wider and bigger. Probably the fastest ship of the Full Circle fleet. :)

  3. Aw well, people tend to be good coders or designers, and you're an amazing designer! Hopefully you continue to work on the colors though.

As for the ship, I like.

  4. I decided against dynamic views too, I found them a little ungainly.

Unlike this ship which is beautiful! The tight ring-ship design makes a lot of sense with what's been established about slipstream in the books too; it looks like the perfect fit for the technology.

  5. Thanks 8of5!

The ring itself will stay in this form. The lighter uppper part is probably going to be a translucent or fully magnetic confined plasma stream.

  7. I wasn't quite sure what I thought when I first saw it. I loved the Vulcan and Andorian designs on Enterprise, but this ship is so obviously out of line with the traditional Starfleet design that I needed to come back a couple times to see it some more.

The design itself is fantastic, and, now that I've had a chance to chew on it, I think it makes perfect sense considering the direction slipstream drive is requiring ship design to go in. Great job!

  8. Thanks Justin!

As for the ship design requirements of QSD: I would compare it with the first airplanes, they all followed a certain guideline. Most if not all with dual or triple wing design to get enough lift. Quantum Slipstream ships in this era all are made narrower to be more efficient within the conduit. I'm pretty sure that in a span of 20 years (in universe) the ships can have necks, full saucers and wider shapes again. The limitation in design will fade away because of evolved understanding and technology. However most Andorian and Vulcan ships have always been more narrow, so they probably wont change much anyway.

Well time for me to figure out the deflector on this thing! :)

  9. Mark, as usual the design is phenominal and I can't wait to see the full version. I did have a thought on the deflector though. On the Miranda class the deflectors were located on the aft ventral side, almost directly beneath the shuttlebays, in an almost ramscoop-like housing. Maybe something smiliar would work here, either along the ventral side of the hull or integrated into the ring; the latter might make more sense given the integral nature of the deflector for QSD.

Again, awesome design and I can't wait to see more!

  10. hmm I always assumed the Deflectors on the Miranda's were those things to the left and right of the Bridge coming off the raised section

  11. Great design concept Mark! Good to see other Federation members getting their design influence into Starfleet ships, after all, Vulcan ships(if not Andorian ships as well) were more advanced than Earth's ships in "Enterprise". I'd like to second Sovereign of Amar's suggestion that the deflector be integrated into the ring. I would put it at the bottom of the ring. Can't wait to see the finished product!

  12. who says the deflector needs to be visible? it could be hidden or in a design not immediately recognizable as a deflector.

  13. Actually, the Miranda designer said the deflector was simply forgotten.

Looks interesting! always nice to see something other than an saucer.. :) I'm sure you've seen these designs by Eaves for STO, just wonder if you could put the nav deflector in the sam place? Doing great!

  15. Thanks guys!

I have considered the option to place the deflector on the ventral of the ring, like John Eaves did on his concept, but I find it hard to justify on my own design.

If the ring for some reason takes a violent hit or gets ripped off, the deflector might be destroyed as well. I think I want to keep them separated, to loose the ring is catastrophic, but with a deflector at least you have some sort of shielding left. So I'm probably still integrating it within the ventral front area. In what form I still have to determine, I went thru 30 ideas, and only 1 was useful/interesting. It's somewhat complex to construct, but this thursday I have a day off and I'm going to fix that! :D

    Will show if I can!
