With 93% of the votes, the Enterprise F will be my primary project during the summer holiday and probably 4 months beyond that.I have not decided on a direction yet, but the era will be somewhere between the year 2425 and 2450.
I think there are 2 ways to go: evolving from the previous E's or start entirely blank.I know myself and letting it evolve will probably end up in some kind of clone of the Galaxy class. I'm planning on doing some very rough concepts soon... with pencil and paper.... nooooooo.... I'm really not good at that. :)

For determining the size I think you should keep in mind what the Federation has been facing as threats lately. Their enemies have fielded ships that are several times the volume of Starfleet's biggest ships with a proportionately greater combat power.
ReplyDeleteTry going for something with internal modules for multi-mission capability warped in a combat hull. About the same number of decks as the Galaxy class and just as wide but three times as long not counting nacelles. Give it a merged hull style like the Aventine for more efficient use of volume but make it more angular drawing s little bit from the Prometheus exterior.
Mayhapes you could looke towards the Enterprise-F as described in a couple of the novels for a bit of inspiration on what form it should take? (http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/USS_Enterprise_(NCC-1701-F))

ReplyDeleteKarl A: It certainly will become "multi mission ready". I'm not planning on making it bigger then 800 meters but you never know! :) I haven't yet decided on shapes, while I like the sleek look of the Prometheus I somehow want to give the Enterprise a bit more grace.
8of5: I'm not sure if I want to follow that direction, it seems there was a "multi vector assault mode" in that Enterprise. I would hate to model that. :)
What I have in mind at the moment is very different from what we have seen before, but it kind of sticks to the classic elements.
I'd like to see more of the USS Spirit, especially the bridge.
ReplyDeleteMulti Vector Assault Mode could just mean that both saucer and star drive are equipped for battle- it wouldn't have to look like Prometheus.
